Meet Rhonda

I grew up in Whitby, studied at Anderson High School, and graduated from Durham College. My family has been in Whitby for many generations and we all pride ourselves on working hard for ourselves and our community.

My career in graphic design began with firms in the GTA until 2000, when I wanted to engage more in my community. I soon realized my strong passion toward the development of my city, and hence worked as the North Ward Councillor from 2016-18. Since then, I have been the Regional Councillor of Whitby. I then launched my entrepreneurial career by starting a local newspaper, The Brooklin Town Crier.

With the support and encouragement from my husband Tom and my three children Sarah, Liam and Keegan I launched the little paper that grew. I believed Brooklin desperately needed a community voice to draw people together and help the community evolve. The paper still exists today, and I continue to pursue my passion for community development and engagement in my role as a Regional Councillor in Whitby.
